Our group is not the best at counting for reservations, even though we're Tech engineers. We're a "the more. the merrier" sort, and often end up crammed together in a tight space. Such was the case on Friday night for a friend's birthday. The staff handled it well, I thought, considering most just get annoyed with our shenanigans, but they seemed like a laid-back sort anyway. Some of the dozen of us ordered appetizers, one of them being the mussels by the couple who sat across from us. Being 39 weeks pregnant, I'm easily put off by slight smells, so I was not at all interested in a bite once they arrived and I could smell that they were slightly off, even though I love mussels. Jimmy had one, and he said it definitely didn't taste fresh, and he reiterated that as he complained of GI issues the next day. We each ordered around the table, and having eaten quite a few snacks in order to wait for the later dinner, I opted for the sides of potato gnocchi and kale, rather than a main. The potato gnocchi was a flavorful combination of many components (mushrooms, peas, corn?), good but nothing particularly memorable. The kale was very garlicky and on the dry side, rather than how many greens are often served in their own pot likker, but I did like it. The real star of the evening was the macaroni and cheese, which was initially ordered by only one of our party. However, when the hungry American males saw it, they all asked the waitress for an order for themselves. Luckily Jimmy let me have a few bites. It was quite tasty - VERY rich, but also very flavorful (not just butter and cream). All in all, I don't think I ordered appropriately to showcase the restaurant, and I'll admit that I was put-off by the late dinner after dealing with Friday traffic and the chairs that aren't comfortable when you're very pregnant. But I would go back for the mac and cheese, and to try something off the wine list that I admired.

To this day, I have no idea where King King is or how to get there but I always somehow seem to stumble upon it after a night out at a pretentious Hollywood club when I've hit my douchebag limit and want to just have a good time without dealing with guys in blazers and jeans with the waxed brows or the bottles and models type chickenhead. Music is always good (house music) and the decor is simple, but house music isn't about the interior design right?! It's about just dancing your ass off...which you will! Def hit it up!

I'd give a 3.5 because I tried Pat's next door and liked that better. This restaurant is impossible to miss because of it's 10 million neon lights. You'd think you were in Vegas! Anyway, I just got a cheese steak with American cheese. The meat was lean but it didn't have that much flavor. The bread was okay also. Be careful of their hot sauce because it really is HOT!
