Rumor doesn't blow me away! It's just like any other big club, nothing special...the decor is Ok, the bouncers are pretty gay.however i do like their music..being drunk helps with that though! Last time i went to rumor, it was a brazilian invasion!! whatever..

"What JUST happened?" seemed to be the consensus of the group. We had heard mysterious rumors of a secret sketchy dance club within GT, and last night after dinner and some beers at Publick House, we decided to cross the street and check it out. We were not disappointed. This was the kind of situation where I really didn't want to like it... but really did anyways (and am sort of ashamed to admit it). A tiny dance floor with seemingly sketchballs getting frisky amid tables of loud people with scorpion bowls with a really old DJ, that at first glance makes you want to either run screaming or LYAO (no, just me?). But the music actually was pretty awesome: interspersed techno and samba (not my favorite) with some classics (a la Baby Got Back, I Wish I Were A Little Bit Taller, and Venga Boys) and some contemporary (Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kayne West) made for an excellent dance party mix (and I'm a sucker for a good dance party). Sure, there were a few older people scattered around, but it looked like the majority were groups of 20-something friends enjoying eachother's company. No sketchy guys came up to us like you would expect in a situation like this, a major plus in our group of all girls. Basically we spent hours on the dance floor, dancing with ourselves and having a fab time, whilst surrounded by delicious smells of Chinese food. An excellent and really ridiculous night all around. Friends raved about the scorpion bowl (I didn't try it though), and they have some great beers on tap that they serve in tall glasses like Chimay (although I suspect the price is a bit higher than average, I shoved my change back in with the rest of my wallet so didn't get a chance to count it, but I'm pretty sure it was up there). Tip: this place gets WICKED hot, so dress accordingly. Also, the actual dance floor is teeny, but only got claustrophobic once or twice (for the most part people were good about spreading out). I'll have to come back to try the food (I got take out years ago and remember thinking it was a bit bland, but that may have changed/I may have ordered the wrong thing/compared to all the other MSG-laden crap it probably was a bit more bland), but for the nightlife, I give it two thumbs up. UPDATE: I tried the food, mango chicken with brown rice, and it was pretty tasty, albeit a bit pricey.
