Our group is not the best at counting for reservations, even though we're Tech engineers. We're a "the more. the merrier" sort, and often end up crammed together in a tight space. Such was the case on Friday night for a friend's birthday. The staff handled it well, I thought, considering most just get annoyed with our shenanigans, but they seemed like a laid-back sort anyway. Some of the dozen of us ordered appetizers, one of them being the mussels by the couple who sat across from us. Being 39 weeks pregnant, I'm easily put off by slight smells, so I was not at all interested in a bite once they arrived and I could smell that they were slightly off, even though I love mussels. Jimmy had one, and he said it definitely didn't taste fresh, and he reiterated that as he complained of GI issues the next day. We each ordered around the table, and having eaten quite a few snacks in order to wait for the later dinner, I opted for the sides of potato gnocchi and kale, rather than a main. The potato gnocchi was a flavorful combination of many components (mushrooms, peas, corn?), good but nothing particularly memorable. The kale was very garlicky and on the dry side, rather than how many greens are often served in their own pot likker, but I did like it. The real star of the evening was the macaroni and cheese, which was initially ordered by only one of our party. However, when the hungry American males saw it, they all asked the waitress for an order for themselves. Luckily Jimmy let me have a few bites. It was quite tasty - VERY rich, but also very flavorful (not just butter and cream). All in all, I don't think I ordered appropriately to showcase the restaurant, and I'll admit that I was put-off by the late dinner after dealing with Friday traffic and the chairs that aren't comfortable when you're very pregnant. But I would go back for the mac and cheese, and to try something off the wine list that I admired.

Tao is pricey, luckily I went here with my gf for restaurant week and got the $24.07 lunch. I really like the asian decor with giant buddahs and other cool decorations. It has a nice ambiance. It is rather dark but I guess that's what they're going for. The music was nice too. Our waiter was really friendly. On to the food... I had the bamboo steamed vegetable dumplings for an appetizer. They were good but not great. I had the wok seared NY sirloin, which was really really good. Cooked just like I ordered it (medium) and served with yukon-gold potatoes and mushrooms. I had the fresh fruit and tangerine sorbet for desert. The fruit was exceptionally fresh and the sorbet was very tasty. It came with lychee, blackberries and melon, among other things. Overall, I liked Tao. I wish I could give it 3.5 stars. The prices of the normal menu are very pricey. I understand it's NYC. Would I come back again? Maybe, probably not if it isn't restaurant week though.

Temple is such a good time! The people are really cool there, both the patrons and everyone that works there. The music is usually awesome and it has 3 different rooms. Upstairs I think is a bit bright and could do with a touch of mood lighting (just a bit) but it is definitely better than a room too dark. At least you can see whats happening around you, if you want it darker just head downstairs anyway :) They know how to have a good party thats for sure! If your not into hip hop though, you might want to steer clear of the one night a week they do that because i went there for the first and last time the other night and someone should have taken the microphone off of at least a couple of those guys haha... BUT the other nights with the kick ass djs, upbeat people and fun vibe really are up there with the best in SF! Illuminance Playground is a must to check out; its on Tuesday nights in the small room at the back, it is a friendly crowd (sexy too!) Its a pretty new night so its generally people that frequent temple so a lot of them know each other but they aren't cliquey at all. So it has this real easy going, pumped up atmosphere :) It is easy to meet people there, especially out the back in the smoking area, I head out there even though I dont smoke. Sometimes they have a line of people drumming to the sik house music, a massage chair and things like strawberries dipped in chocolate. Its going to grow and get bigger too! Check it out on Tuesday nights, seriously a good time.
