While certainly not the absolute worst place I have been to, most definitely not the best either. The decor is ok, somewhat hokie, Felt almost like I was re-living scenes from "Big Trouble in Little China" inside of a whales stomach. At any moment, I was waiting for Lo Pan to jump out from the disco dance floor and start taking souls. The servers seemed to be engaged in poaching tables from each other. (and at one point, while we were eating, snuck by and stole the salt and pepper from the table...) As far as the food itself. The food was actually pretty good and tasted REALLY fresh. My girlfriend had the cashew chicken, and I had the General Gao's chicken. The cashew chicken was what tasted really fresh with the water chestnuts, celery, and other veggies in it. As far as chinese food goes, this is some of the freshest I have ever tasted. The General Gao, was perfectly cooked with a slight crunchy crispiness around the edges and the sauce was not too bad either. a little thick but nothin to complain about., THe people around us though...man. At one point, there is a little old lady screaming and cursing the staff for attempting to steal her walker, then the two little old ladies next to us were discussing rather loudly the earlier trip to the doctor that afternoon for her "checkup", if anything, I can say doctor Ford and now, his son, are quite thorough female physicals and what not., But I digress, The latter two things are just shear chance,. I would definitely go back to golden temple again, The food is good, comes out piping hot, and makes for great leftovers. The staff are a little weird, the decor is over the top, and its little high priced for what it is, But, I would go back., If anything to try the famous scorpion bowls. And something tells me, after a few of those guys, the review of the place will jump a star or two. ;)

My girlfriend and I are avid Stephen Starr restaurant goers so needless to say presentation, ambiance and atmosphere are more important to us than the average patron. The casual, dimmed aura of Tangerine was a breath of fresh air on a crowded Olde City street. We allowed our appetites to simmer in the lounge while we indulged in a few ostentatious cocktails. When our collective whistle was adequately saturated, we were promptly seated in the dining room and our waitress had procured yet another alcoholic beverage to our liking. A few words and pleasantries later, we ordered our starters and entree's which took a reasonable moment to reach our table. Immersing ourselves into the contemporary dim-lit lighting, we began to dissect our starters - octopus salad and the scallops. Both about what you would typically expect from Stephen Starr. Onto the entrees.. we made a bid for the pork and the halibut. Both mildly innovative in presentations and taste, not terribly overwhelming. Dessert failed to peak my interest; it was monotonous and lacked a reasonably sized portion. Conclusively, a somewhat ho hum effort from Stephen Starr.

I give it 2 stars for ambiance and SOME of the food that was good. My best friend and his mother, both of whose palettes I respect recommended this place so it was on the list. We went with some Bostonites who were wanting to be sex and the city style. Fancy $12 drinks was what everyone started off with but that wasn't too surprising. I got the duck spring rolls whose consistency was gooey as opposed to meaty, the spare ribs whose best part was the duck dauce, and the squab lettuce wraps which were alright. For my entree I got the scalion mongolian chicken which was the best part of the meal but still nothing amazing. For dessert I had bread pudding which was more like mousse. They did have a monster fortune cookie filled with chocolate and vanilla mousse which had giant sized funny fortunes. My girlfriend RAVED about her lobster wontons which were more like dumplings. Another couple got the duck for 2 at $60 and it was pathetic. It was gray and artifically red. My girlfriend claimed the sushi was subpar as well for the price. This place seemed off mark when describing their dishes. I don't see myself going back here. p.s. I spent $90 without drinks.
