Nice balance between sports bar and nightclub for those who want something a little more low-key (and cheaper) than the entire Hollywood scene. The drinks are definitely a plus here since you can get a strong drink for a reasonable price. Tip: go to the dance floor bar instead of the one in the smoking area the main bar for much shorter lines. The dance floor is huge and generally crowded but not so packed where you can't walk on Friday's or Saturday's. I've also came here to find a live band playing which was also pretty cool. For those of you who like playing pool or shuffleboard this is also your place. If you come early, entrance is free and if you come later its only 10 bucks. Also, there's a valet lot but there is also a good amount of free street parking in the area if you wanna save that extra 10 bucks. Overall, pretty fun place and good atmosphere.

B This was once a famous and revered Basque restaurant and bar that straddled the Castro when it was a bastion of straight Irish middle class folks with great pride in their neighborhood. Today it's one of the hottest nightclubs in the city, home to infamous, near famous and never to be famous arts and entertainment events and talent. No matter what is happening on their stage, you can always get food to go with a huge selection of draft beers and a full bar. Any place that has mini corn dogs on their appetizer menu has to be hip and cool in my opinion, and what's even better is that they have a full menu of damned good food that includes a stand up burger. The burger is definitely hand formed and slightly different in size and shape each time which is refreshing and appreciated rather than those previously frozen, machine stamped patties that always taste like chemicals and preservatives and provide no meat flavor unless you go for the flame broiled burgers at Burger King where they infuse the meat with liquid smoke I'm told. Caf du Nord delivers some good quality with their burger and a great selection of cheese including gruyere, blue, white cheddar and Swiss to name just four. The sesame seed bun is toasted perfectly and the huge oval platter carrying the burger is adorned with a couple chilled but dry inner leaves of romaine, a couple generous slices of tomato and three ramekins of a grainy mustard, flavored catsup and aioli mayonnaise and some house cut fries. The Fries are good, yellow fingerling potatoes, seasoned lightly and fried crisp which is soul satisfying and perfect with the burger. They've got a full menu including several salads at entre size, pizza's, plenty of small plates and appetizers, several sandwiches and it all comes down with music, performance art and non profit benefits happening somewhere in the cellar space. One gripe is that there aren't a lot of places to sit and eat your burger because it's basically a stand up club. But the burger is great and the price is right.

this place sucks, drinks are overpriced for Austin, and the mojitos taste like juice, but most girls and guys who don't know better love that shit... LOL... one time I was there the DJ in the backroom was whacked too, spun funky shit... but most of the time the music is alright... At least there is no cover charge so if you want, just go in and check it out and see if you like it...
