by jin y. on white wine sangria and awesome garlic fries. the kind of fries where they have real whole fried up garlic on the bottom. SO GOOD. Great view of the hudson river. Minus one star for dumping ice buckets over the edge. kind of gross to get some of the splatter while you're eating.
by Eugena Unglaub on If all I'd eaten here were the trouffle frites, the yellow beans, or the caramel-ice-cream-topped brownie, I might have left Coda thinking I wouldn't make much effort to come back, at least not for dinner (the music, if too loud for conversation, was terrific). But the crab ravioli, with their buttery garlic sauce and fresh meat, are in a whole different category of good eating. I can't get the taste of them off my tongue and am sure I'll be back for seconds -- and tasting other menu items -- soon. In the meantime, I hope the chef of this new restaurant puts some time into mastering the afore-mentioned mediocre American basics--because it shouldn't be too hard to knock my socks of with those ingredients!
by Jami Mccalebb on I haven't had dinner at this dinner club yet, so I can't really comment on the food. Given the name I was kinda expecting (hoping? nah!) to walk into a room full of foam when I showed up for the Halloween party. Even without the foam I did feel like I was entering an exclusive Mediterranean hot spot filled with beautiful and well costumed guests. The bar is filled with a lot of top shelf liquor. It was probably due to the Halloween party bedlam going on, but I did get a generous pour of XO rum neat, and was charged like it was a regular shot! That was nice. Having just come from our high school reunion we neglected to wear costumes, but congrats to Maverick & Goose for winning the contest... I think Frida Kahlo and Che Guevara deserved it just a little bit more though!
