I was introduced to this place by a Cristian co-worker. You can only imagine how surprised I was when I realized what kind of establishment she frequents. We went on 7-8-10, Thursday night. We arrived @ 10:15pm. There was a very very short line. The entrance was free. Once inside, the security lady checked me better than any airport. She even lifted my strapless bra when she was finished. There is a metal detector. Once inside, the place seemed empty, but not for too long. Before the massive crowd, we toured the various areas including the reggae room where a scent of artificial weed is decor, unspeakable acts occur, and the men who lure women from the main dancefloor bring their catch. The main floor is ample with a small elevated stage where male Madonnas, couples meshing, and women imitating strippers show off thier bodies and sing to rap and hip hop. There is also a second floor which contains a small lounge overlooking the dancefloor. I did not buy any drinks, but a nice jamacian 40 year old bought me a water for $4.00. The crowd is mostly 'ghetto fab'. The women are Rainbow store shoppers or have very urban taste. The club markets to the black community and a mature crowd. It does not particularly attract a sophisticated crowd as evident by the dress attire of most men and women and lack of teeth. It was interesting to note that the men are not shy, will ask women to dance, and the women are down to dancing dirty and going all out. This is not my kind of crowd, but I must admit that I had alot of fun. I'm a conservative looking Latina. I danced with many different people on the main dancefloor. All respected my wish not to dance close, not to touch me, and not to go to the reggae room with them. My highlight, I danced with a bouncer who had a great body and danced like an angel. We took center stage on the dancefloor for at least half an hour. We danced the hustle, salsa, and what he called the Cha Cha. I just followed his movements. People took alot of pictures of us, he received many high fives, and we had quite an audience. I would not go again by myself because it's not my kind of crowd, but I think it's worth it if your into a 'ruff neck' 'hoodlum' 'nasty boy' 'ghetto fab' 'street' 'gangster looking or affiliated' partner either for a night of dancing or more.

I STILL dream about the omelet I had here! Carman's is only open a few days a week, but it's totally worth the trek and the time you have to make for it in an otherwise crowded schedule. It is fantastic. There are only ever 4 - 5 plates, and she makes EVERYTHING herself using mostly local ingredients. She's been around for a while, and knows her way around a kitchen. There is always some sort of dough that can be eaten as a waffle or a pancake dish, an omelet of some sort, and I THINK a sandwich option. She recommends various sides and breakfast meat to go along with each meal. The recommendations are usually spot on. If you can get yourself here, do it! And you'll NOT regret it.
