I expected it to be similar to the Drais Afterhours in Vegas... Wrong! But I should have known, right? LA's night scene is like the evil step sister of the Vegas night scene. Rather than the Vegas crazies who are looking for one hell of a good time, it's a bunch of stuck ups who are willing to drop big bucks just to show off. Not my thing. Although I did meet a celebrity (Ron Jeremy... ew?), it wasn't as glitz and glam as I thought it would be. Perhaps we came on the wrong night? Regardless, it was a HUGE hassle to get in. The door guy was trying to convince us to buy a bottle by pretending he didn't know we were on the list. Seriously? I'm glad we didn't give into his persuasion, because when we finally got inside it was DEAD upstairs. Wouldn't have been worth the money. It was nice and all, but I probably won't be back.

I can't comment on the food, but the drinks are decent and reasonably-priced ($3.75 Miller Lite, $5 Guinness, ~$5 for various mixed drinks). The bartenders are friendly, and the crowd is fairly evenly distributed between college students, 20-somethings, and 30-somethings who work in Cambridge. Come in before 10 to avoid the $5 cover, and, around 11, the dance floor starts heating up. Pretty decent crowd, maybe 50-70 people (but the place is small) max. There isn't a coat check, or a secure place to stash your belongings, but I haven't had a problem with leaving a coat/purse on a bench. Consider bringing a non-dancing friend if you're paranoid:)

Monday nights are the only nights I LOVE going to Halo. The crowd is surprisingly diverse. Bartenders are pretty fast. But the good mix of music on Monday nights is the best reason to go. Oh and no cover charge helps to :) Overall great place. Not very conducive for convo though. you've gotta find a corner to do that in, even then you have to be in someone's ear if you want them to hear you. But who's there to talk? I wanna dance:)
