Three day business trip to LA and I wanted a stereotypical LA experience.  As a big fan of the OLD Gramercy Park Hotel in NYC (before that dick from W Hotels ruined it), the Roosevelt's old school swagger appealed to me, so I booked it via Tablet and checked in. First, the obvious.  The location is great, the interior amazing, and the front desk staff friendly, well-mannered, and attractive.  Even the valets were gracious and patient. I was told at check-in that I had received a complementary "upgrade" to my room.  Perhaps I had mistakenly booked the janitor's closet because my upgrade was a hollow room with a ground level view of the hotel HVAC and giant fluorescent signage on the roof.  The worst room in the hotel?  Possibly.  Clock radio from KMart and waaaay overpriced mini-bar.  But I was too tired to care and went downstairs to check out the famous pool scene. The pool was cool, good tunes, not too many assholes, and definitely chill.  Small bar, pricey drinks, and only one bartender who struggled to keep up with orders.  $20 for a Hennessy?  Sorry - you'll need to pour with a heavier hand to make that ship sail.  I've crushed cheaper drinks poolside in Vegas.  Otherwise, good place to hang, guy/girl ratio worked, and all that.

This club isn't worth your time. Pain in the ass to get in. The host Benjamin is just full of it. Check out kiss and fly on 13th - much better choice. Music is ok.

A good place to start the night. I personally find the crowd pretty pedestrian, ditto for the music, but I do like the darkness downstairs as well as the upper level which has a bit more of a classier vibe. Place reminds me of the Pioneer Square clubs/bars in Seattle. THe main level which combines like 3 rooms together is like a college bar setting. People seem friendly here overall, not pretentious. I do like the solid bottled beer and mixed drink selection. The guest list before 11pm also bodes well for a first stop. Not overly impressed, but as long as this is the not the ultimate destination for a night I am cool with it.
