by Brendan O. on As someone who was a member of Revival, the private club that occupied this amazing space in the late 80s/early 90s, it took a little bit of self-prodding to finally set foot in National Mechanics. Real glad I did. We went on a Sunday early-evening when it was sparsely populated, and didn't get a chance to actually eat anything, but we were very impressed by the cool scene they've created at National Mechanics. The space itself is wonderful and the bar staff were super-friendly. Minor complaint that the on-tap beer selection is a bit... pedestrian. True, they rotate about 4 or 5 craft beers into the tap list, but I think a better option for them would be to reduce the "stock" tap list to 6 or 7 varieties (the better ones, please) and increase the number of interesting beers in rotation. Happy hour is from 5-7 every day, with draft beers $1 off. A good thing! I will re-review once I've had a chance to go back and try out the food menu and see what it's like there when more populated. Hopefully five stars after that?
by Alia Ballenger on I've been to Geno's before, but decided to do a Geno's/Pat's taste test. So, I got a cheesesteak w/whiz and onions - or a whiz, wit (however you say that) from each one. Here's what you get at Geno's: soft bread that holds all it's contents without dominating them + thin steak, and the perfect amount of it + just the right amount of whiz = great blended flavors in a cheesesteak Geno's wins,. hands-down. I had 3 other people with me, and we all came to the same conclusion. It's just MY kind of cheesesteak which I'd gladly drive to get again.
by Jacquelyn Elbert on Went here last weekend for a bachelorette party...some of the girls in our group were hesitant from going to male strip clubs and the guys being not-so-great...we were all pleasantly surprised! Wow! Those bodies are something straight out of Playgirl, I tell you!! Whew!!! We all had a FABULOUS time and those men were fantastic! Yes, their choreographed dances were a little bit cheesy, but who cares- their butts made up for it! ha! Only complaint- ordered 5 drinks and never even got the slightest buzz...as a matter of fact, all of the girls in my group complained about how LITTLE alcohol they put in the drinks (I wondered if they put ANY)... guess that is where they make their money, right? This is definitely a good time and totally worth the money!
