by Stuart C. on First time at Zahav. We ordered hummus and a selection of salads and then a couple of other dishes. The hummus was creamy and pretty good, though too bland for my taste, not any better than supermarket hummus. The salads had a nice presentation but honestly were quite unremarkable, expecially to anyone who has been to Israel. There were maybe 2-3 out of 8 that I really liked. We also got small dishes of moussaka and skirt steak. Good, not amazing. Overall impression: decent food, tiny portions, generally over-priced.
by Otis Scherz on There are 908 reviews about Lime. I am about to write the 909th. I doubt I will add anything new. I will, however, write about the experience for my small group of rateclubs friends who may have never heard of Lime and may someday visit the Castro district in SF and want to experience a fantastic brunch experience and drink countless mimosas on a Sunday morning. Speaking of Sunday mornings at Lime, would it be sacrilegious to say that if Lime were a church, I would want to be its first member? It definitely is a life-changing experience to dine at Lime. I don't think I could have made it out for brunch on a Sunday morning if it wasn't at Lime. The colors, the music, the company, it was all fantastic. Oh, yeah, and the food, also FANTASTIC. Goodbye hangover and hello to warm and fresh biscuits, a huge frittata that I couldn't even finish, and their delectable house potatoes. But wait! Could it get any better than that? Oh, hells, yeah. The mimosas! Keep 'em coming honey was my brunch-time motto! It was an utterly wonderful brunch experience. It definitely got loud at times, as more and more people came piling in to enjoy their Sunday morning devotions. But, that is also what made the vibe so electric -- that, and the techno music. So, the next time you want to find a great brunch spot to rev-up your Sunday morning, I would highly recommend visiting Lime. Can I get an Amen?!
by Irvin Croy on This place is just fabulous... I love trying new restaurants, often with mixed results, but this place hits it out of the park. And rarely does a new restaurant get it 99% right in the first few weeks of opening. The tasting menu's definitely the way to go. I couldn't think too hard faced with all those great choices. The only caveat is that the desserts are a bit over the top, with multiple flavors and textures that were at times too much, though always delicious. And if that's their biggest issue, they'll do fine.
