by Jeff O. on I'd says this place is about 3.5 stars, I come here mainly for the fish tacos and chips and guac. Both are excellent and pretty consistent. I've had other tacos too, Nick's way, but they were just okay. All fish products are currently $1 more than normal because of that chocolate spill in the gulf. I watched a Giants game at the bar and service was attentive but I only had beers so I can't comment on the mixed drinks. I think the decor is dreadful, but I have a fear of velvet, so perhaps i'm biased. CASH ONLY.
by Antoine Ludeke on pretty sweet place. rolled up around 1130pm, they had me on the RSVP list, and i got in with no problems, no cover charge. the place was kinda crowded but the high ceilings keep it from feeling too claustrophobic. the crowd is a nice mix of people, not too douchey. oh and the bathrooms were ridiculously clean, i was kinda surprised. i'll be back again for sure.
by Merlin Mechanic on New York -- You've always been America's shiny peak in dance music culture. Other cities have had their moments but things have often been perfected here. This is why it's so unfortunate to see today's weak dance music culture. Sure, I hear your defense, there are some spots. But it's changed, atrophied, gotten weaker. You do have Cielo, and we're all thankful for that. It's the best regular spot amongst what's left. And not only the best but it's got it's own thing going, isn't trying to be any other place. (I legitimately hope it spawns imposters as more options are better than less options.) CIelo has the world class soundsystem. The lights. The design. The acoustics. It's just right. However, this isn't the day of acid house. This isn't even the day of Twilo, or the original Sound Factory. Cielo has bottle service priority. Dress code. There's higher cover for guys, cheaper cover for the ladies. It's a bit of a college town bar in that sense. And sure I don't enjoy sausage fests, but it's just not all about the music. I love Cielo, but let's call a spade a spade. There's magic missing. Love, _C$
