by Greshka P. on I think I've said this before ... Brunch is my favorite meal. Saturday, with a group of friends, after finally waking up after a fun, long night out, we needed food, and some drinks. First thing the ask you after seating you is "do you want (all you can drink) Mimosas or Jack Punch". We, each made our decision, and here chime the carafes filled, and refilled... Once this is done, get up and go get some (all you can eat ) food from the buffet. Options that day included: Fruit salad Croissants Brownies French toasts Eggs Benedict Pancakes Omelets Fried plantains Bacon Mashed green plantains Rice and beans Chicken And more Everything I tried was good. The fact that we stayed until brunch ended, at 3pm is proof of that. The only complaint I have is with their customer service. We were a group of 8, and needed some tables to be pulled together. This seemed to bother them. Every time we asked for something (which weren't many since this is more of a self serve thing) it made us feel like we were asking for a lot. Finally, when 3pm came around, the manager went from table to table, announcing brunch was over, even to tons who had just walked in. I found that distasteful. But again, since this is mostly self-serve, don't worry about this part and go enjoy some good food and drinks, and if the day is nice, do sit outside - great for people watching.
by Ivory Zupfer on I know this is going to sound lame, but if this place was easier to get to I'd buy all my music here. I loved Ear Wax when it resided in the old spot before Vision Nightclub arrived. Now it is in the transportation nightmare that is the entry way to both the North and South passages of 75/85. However, I say, find the nooks and crannies of time to creep over there when traffic won't be an issue. You'll find the latest hip hop, underground, remixes, R&B and old school music there is. They also still sell albums and if you can't find it in a mainstream store you will find it here. The store has been around almost 15 years and filled a void in the early 90s of places where true hip hop lovers could find an extremely extensive collection of CDs, tapes and vinyl. It's a good look and I have mad love for Ear Wax, even at 5 PM in the middle of rush hour traffic
