I really hope that they do more events at this theater to help revitalize a once beautiful part of Los Angeles history. The Orpheum is a wonderful old theater adorned with classic art deco moldings and whimsical vintage design. It's breathtaking inside and a little creepy in that "old haunt" kind of way. The restrooms are on the basement floor-- take the old lift, it's soooo cool! They also have a basement bar and ample vintage furniture to lounge around in downstairs before your show. Seats are small, but seem to be the original ones and the sound system is up-to-date. Shows here can run a little high because of promoters, but the acts that typically come here are usually worth it. Last show I went to was Joanna Newsom and that was fantastic. Bar prices are a little steep, and parking is a pain. This stretch of Broadway has dozens of old run-down theaters that now house churches and swap meets....it's a sad sight, but the Orpheum (thankfully) still stands.

Ohhh Did I have fun!!! BUT my friends clearly did not!! One late night while prowling the streets of Atlanta I told my friends that I wanted to check this place out (even though I knew they would hate it) BUT I didn't care! We walked in to what felt like a sauna...filled with smoke and sweaty people. My friends clearly thought I was crazy when they realized there were old lady strippers in random places giving lap dances. I offered too buy one for my date BUT sadly he declined. The DJ was awesome as he played old school 80s & 90's. The place went ballistic with the crowed heard the opening of Prince's song "Let's Go Crazy"..."Dearly Beloved we are gathered here today to get through this thing called LIFE..." LIFE is too short people...(or too long for some of those strippers at the Clermont) ...u have to at least make one stop at the Clermont! But please be open minded.
