HH Stop #2 of 3. I've always wanted to check out Eve (same owners as John Colins) since it opened last September, but not working in the FIDI/SOMA anymore makes it very hard to. On Thurs, 8.12.10 my friends and I met up at John Colins after work for HH before our dinner reservations. The crowd is normally mixed and lively, so I'm not sure WTH happened b/c it was whacked. So we decided to pass by Zebulon which was equally as whacked (mind you, these are my fav HH spots). *shrugs shoulders* One of my friends mentioned Eve, so we ended up there at around 7 PM. Since I went there on weekday, it's very hard to judge how's it like on a Friday and Saturday night in terms of crowd, vibe, etc. And, since I'm not a "lounge" type of person and I rather be at a club, I doubt I would come here on Friday or Saturday night so my review is purely based for HH. Eve ROCKS for HH for the following reasons: 1. Seating, seating, and MORE seating! As w/ most bars/lounges in FIDI/SOMA it's very difficult to get a drink much less a seat during HH. I like the fact that there was ample seating available at the bar and tables. 2. Cheap and Strong Drinks! We ordered one beer, one glass or chardonnay, and one Hendrick's Gin and Tonic and our tab was less than $20. 3. Complimentary Antipasto Platter: Yummy salami, prosciutto, red wine cheese, sharp white cheddar, black and green olives, and rye bread. 4. Good Music: That night the DJ was playing old school Hip Hop and R&B. The music wasn't blaring, so it was easy to hold a conversation. 5. Sexy Décor: Eve reminds me of a smaller bar/lounge version of Manor West; very CLASSY w/ the Burlesque paintings, chandeliers, sleek leather bar stools, booths and shiny dark cherry hardwood floors. Eve is definitely a place to check out for HH when you don't want to deal w/ pushing/shoving for drinks at the bar and want a place just to chill w/ good company.

Super cute patio, retro metal bouncy chairs, strong drinks, CRAP service. I haven't eaten here but have come a few times for cocktails, so my view might be skewed; maybe it's just the bar waitstaff that has a problem. I went here last night with some girlfriends, and I don't know what the hell crawled up her ass and died, but our server was surly, rude and completely unhelpful. My friend ordered a Corona. She said, "We don't have that." Period. End of sentence. No suggestion of the other 2 Mexican beers they had, nothing. No offers of glasses. No checking on us when we had empties. Maybe she thought a group of women weren't going to tip very well. Turns out, she was right.
