I've heard of Silk City many times, driven past it even more, but never ventured in. After a recent concert at The Electric Factory, the boy and I stopped by for a late bite to eat. It was a Saturday around 11pm, and apparently this place is poppin' around that time. I guess I was never aware that it's a diner and a lounge. We had a short (20 minute) wait for a table, which seemed like forever since I'd been standing all night long, but once we were seated I was not disappointed. While we waited for our appetizer (we ordered the calamari), we were kept thoroughly entertained by an older gentleman dancing outside. I ordered the portobello burger (which was either missing something or had too much of something), and the boy ordered the tuna burger. The fries were good, not overly seasoned and I loved the spicy-ish pickle that came with. I was a bit surprised at the quality of food from this diner. Definitely a step above traditional diner fair! I definitely think we'll be back.

Gross. This place is like a younger, cheaper version of Tia's. But maybe I just don't like the North Station area. It's like Downtown Crossing and Faneuil Hall had an ugly, dirty, mean baby.

Get the Big Tex burger! It has beef, bacon, black beans, guacamole, pico de gallo, and whatever else you want. The Chop House burger is the one that won an award, but I like this one better as it's the same thing with more good stuff on it. We also liked the trio appitizer and the "Make your own Bloddy Mary bar" at the Sunday Brunch. We also had migas and muffin tops. They actually bake them in shallow pans, so no wasted stumps. I've got no problem with stumps, but I guess someone does. We also liked the french fries that came with the burger. Our waitress was Mary Ann and I think she was new but that's ok. She was polite, warm, accomodating, and took care of everything. Oh, Newcastle on tap. That's all I need to know. I would have given it 5 stars but it was freezing cold in there, it was a bit pricy, and it's a restaurant that pretends to be a sports bar. Are you a dog or a cat? Pick one.
