by Pierre Agney on Solid, solid bar. Went to a birthday party here Friday night and it met all my criteria for a bar: 1) Cheap booze - we paid $30 a head for three hours, all we could drink top shelf liquor and beer. I got my moneys worth thanks to the great staff, which brings me to: 2) Good staff - My bartender had my beers ready faster than I could order them. My liver hates you, tiny blonde bartender who was wearing a sign stating that she lost her voice, but I like you just fine. 3) Not too crowded and not too many douchebags. Impressive for a Friday night. It did get a little packed towards the tail end of our night, but from 8:30 through 11:30 it was a decent sized crowd. It was easy to get drinks and easy to get to the bathroom. They also had a decent selection of beers on tap, including three different types of Sam Adams. Its also a good location, lots of other bars/restaurants nearby and not far from the Museum of Natural History, so you can stumble off and get some culture.
by Noah Dorvillier on I love this place. I give it 6 stars. Ignore the 5 above --- it's a bug. I'm fairly certain Rateclub's engineering team is investigating at the moment. The food is amazing. I never have the slightest clue what particular food stuffs I'm eating in any given bite and I don't care. It's all terrific. What is this? A balled up, sopping wet pancake stuffed with bits of chicken and dripping with Gerber's carrot baby food. Great! Keep it coming. Furthermore, April, who seems to be the only waitress/hostess/bartender, rocks. She's uber-friendly, ultra personable and didn't even miss a beat on a witty response when my friend said in a very deadpan manner after ordering his drinks, 'By the way, we don't tip.' I suspect she uses some kind of ancient Ethiopian magic to run this place single-handedly. I would provide more details on this legendary brand of West African style restaurant management, but alas Wikipedia does not have an entry. As of yet. Additionally, the Ethiopian beer is great. Everything is cheap. Music exists. The wallpaper is indisputably glorious. Essentially, if you go here and don't like it, chances are you can represent your combined SAT score with 3 digits or you're from Eritrea.
