by Carter Grannan on Went last night to Pod with some friends. The style of the place of the place is fun and for me that is part of the experience. I found the entrance when you first arrive a bit awkward and it seems awkward for the staff that work there, so that was strange. We had some starters and I really loved the flavor of everything, especially the tempura rock shrimp. For my dinner I had the Soy/Ginger Chicken. The presentation was very nice and the sauce really made the dish. My only issue was the chicken was a bit more undercooked than I like, just a bit pink in the center. The crab rice was delicious and I could have a made meal just out of that. For desert my husband and I shared the fluffernutter spring rolls which were both yummy and fun!! We had a fantastic waiter who was very attentive and to my amazement, no matter how much we ordered at one time, he never wrote anything down! :o) Although we had fun and I enjoyed the funky decor and food, I probably would not be in a rush to go back. To me it's a place that once you see it, you move on. I'm sure it's a fun hang out for the students who live near by but I wonder how they afford it, as everything was pretty expensive!
by Adam L. on Had a slice here for the first time this past weekend. Joe's (both locations) is much better for full pies or slices, and Lazaros does a better (although sweeter-sauced) slice.
by Patrick Samok on I was looking for really good Southern food, in a nice place with a bar.... this restaurant was perfect. Great cocktails, tasty food, done right and with a twist. Somehow they figured out how to layer goat cheese into the Fried Green Tomatoes (on a bed of roasted red pepper coulis) - yum. The shrimp & scallops on cheese grits were tasty - my husband loved the whole fried catfish (even though he said the hush puppies were over-cooked). I highly recommend this place.
