by Camille M. on We stumbled upon this place after the marathon and I love it! It reminded me of a very small balthazar type bistro - at least the front/bar area. Mirrored walls, wood paneling, black and white tiled floors - you get the picture. We sat by the window so we could enjoy all of the foot traffic. I just viewed the photos and perhaps the main dining room has been renovated but I missed the disco ball and the velvet seating? I believe Lavo is due for some updated photos. Very fresh selection from the raw bar and yes- the bloody's were quite nice. The wine list had a nice offering as well. I ordered the polenta fries and the steamed asparagus ($10/each). As for the polenta fries - there were four to plate - almost the size of french toast sticks. They were lightly fried cornmeal sticks -served with marinara and freshly grated parm (not powdered -thank God). The steamed asparagus were cooked in olive oil, lemon and garlic. I really enjoyed it all - ambiance, food, drinks, vibe...

I would love to love this place, but this place is straight crap, and here is few reasons why. 1. Worst location to have a club ever. Located straight in the tenderloin, where the crackheads are shooting up and bums trying to hustle you for money. Don't ever park on the street if you're trying to get your car broken into, I rather park my car in the parking lot, and tip the valet $20 to keep it nice and safe. 2. Worst clientele ever. Ghetto ass hoodrats feelin up on my friends. 3. I want to say the staff their is alright. Michael Parker, was pretty nice, in a cocky kind of way. He is very mannered, but in a very rude way. Never the less, he was pretty helpful at times. The security guys... damn don't even try asking for help... they won't even try to help you out, even if you slip them a c note. 4. Worst bottle service experience I have ever had, very unorganized. ....I'll give you guys a few more months, and you'll lose your clientele.... because you lost quite a few of us already from last nights experience.
