Cute awesome place, very popular, drinks extremely overpriced. $300 for a bottle of jonny walker black :D but it's sure a good time.

Okay, I'm really not getting all the El Sol hate here. Is it perfect? Certainly not. Is the service exemplary? Certainly not. Is it arguably the best Tex-Mex place in downtown Austin? Possibly yes. (By "downtown" I mean 78701 ZIP code. S. Congress/S. First doesn't count.) I visit periodically and went today for brunch (note: it's one of those rare Austin venues that isn't mobbed for Sunday brunch). The service was friendly but the server managed to screw up half of our orders. Several were mixed up, and I never received a drink I ordered. The food, however, was quite good. My chilequiles came with a mound of refried beans enough to feed the Gosselin family, and my miga taco -- while by no means on par with the likes of Taco Xpress or Izzoz -- wasn't bad. As mentioned, I didn't have a drink this trip, but in the past I've had some better-than-average margaritas and Bloody Marias here.
