by Jennifer T. on Thursdays at Sidetracks are the best. $10 at the door open bar till 1am yeah i know it gets really crowed but you just gotta know how to work that out. A couple of friends and I went two wks ago and literally fill a whole table of mix drink before 1am. Music and drinks are great had a blast.
by Elfrieda Parmalee on I was telling a friend who came to town that we should go to Blakes and he said "Oh, you mean the double wide?" HAHA I guess he didn't have a great impression from entering the bar from the upper back side. It does look much like a double wide. Well, this IS the South. =) The plastic dixie-cup sized drinks are deceiving because they pack a punch -- a little dab 'll do ya. And the drag show can be fun IF you get a decent spot to stand, since they pretty much just clear the floor by the main door and the queens prance away. When its busy there's not much elbow room, but at least the scenery is decent. =)
by Mitsue Dohrman on It's such a weird location for a classy restaurant! It's right next door to the vet where I take my 17 year old cat! However, the look and design is memorable. The purple exterior and violet curtains make you think of a Prince concert for a slight second. Then you walk in and you think "ah! beautiful!" A modern look with a curved bar and a tall wine selection. Cushy pillows on the corner benches, and and outside patio that's inviting. Now to the food: it's one of my favorite restaurants in Altanta. The salmon is to die for. Some people judge a restaurant by the burgers or the drinks, I judge it by the salmon. Service was great and the ambiance is perfect for either a romantic date, or a group gathering. It's not too loud, so you can actually hear and enjoy others. There is plenty of space, so you could also keep to your self if you want. A glass of wine is pretty large compared to other restaurants. Oh, and one of my favorite details - black linen napkins - instead of the white ones that leave lent on your pants. One tip though, especially coming into the winter months: push the hostess stand back farther away from the entrance. As soon as you go through the curtains, you run smack right into the hostess. And if there's a line, you're stuck holding the curtain back in the freezing cold.
