by Angela W. on I went here about 2 Thursday's ago and LOVED IT! I think Thursday is an open mic night. After experiencing it I thought, how could anyone not like this place. The staff was friendly, the crowd was diverse, the music was WONDERFUL. The drinks were sweet, the pizza was good. I keep thinking about the next time I go there. Those were 2 of the best hours I've had all year. Other live music places around Atlanta have gone "Hollywood" in my opinion. I just want to go inside, sit down, listen to some music and at Kat's I got to do that. The only thing I noticed was a lot of the tables were reserved. I'm not sure why, maybe for regulars, or maybe you can make reservations, but I was there fairly early so I sat in a good spot right in front of the band. It seems to be a fun place for a birthday party as well.
by Dewey Pluma on To start it all off.....we had reservations, we were on-time, and still had to wait over 20 minutes for our table. =( Decor was very nice, definitely a very LA scene, and the bar was busy. FYI: Try to look for street parking first since even valet was overpriced. Our waitress was not the sharpest knife in the drawer.....first she told us that the special set courses (at the bottom of the menu) were priced as a "total" per table, not per person. We had to ask since the menu didn't specify. Next, since they cater to our eating habits and eating no-no's, we asked for absolutely "no pork" in any of our dishes. What did they bring out? Yup, pork (a few times). We had to ask for the waitress to correct it. Out of the 8 dishes we received, I only liked 1 of them. When we received the bill we were shocked!! We were initially told it was supposed to be a total of about $90....not $90 person. We had to speak to 2 people before finally getting to the manager. When he came over, there was no apology regarding the pricing miscommunication. He even went on to state that our waitress "one of the best." We then explained how wonderful she was....we asked for "no pork," yet, pork was brought out several times. Still no apology from the manager even though he had nothing further to say about the "great waitress." He mocked us for thinking it was $90 total....even though our waitress confirmed that. He was extremely unprofessional, rude, and patronizing. His name was Chris Islow. To make matters worse, I contacted the SBE corporate office and spoke with Natalie who oversees certain areas in their restaurant division. I explained what happened, she apologized (after reaching corporate, I finally get an apology ), and said I would get a call from her or her boss the following day. That was over a month ago. Since then I've called her and e-mailed her on two separate occasions......no response. I'm definitely NEVER going to XIV again. As a matter of fact, I'm never going to another SBE restaurant again. I've tried Katsuya in the past and their attitudes were horrible there as well. I can do without SBE's rude attitudes and fu-fu dishes. FOOD: overpriced and teeny-tiny portions (our executive boss who paid had to stop at In-N-Out afterwards) Service/attitude: needs major improvement Decor: very nice
by Blaine Skemp on Food is tasty although a little pricey. The atmosphere is quite unique! Good service accompanied by live jazz. Would be good for a date or group of friends.
