I'm always humbled and grateful to learn -- well into my adulthood -- about a slice of "history" that I'd never before known. Bring on Fela!. And welcome to Lagos... From the vibrant and clubby first half, through the trippy, other-worldly latter half, the show is both stunning and enlightening. The sheer energy of the performance is mesmerizing. At the same time, the details, from costumes to scenery to language, are extraordinary. "I refuse to live my life in fear," said Fela Anikulapo Kuti. Would that we all embrace this, in sentiment and in action -- and expect no less from our leaders, whomever we choose them to be.

This place has great dance music. And the most cover I have ever paid was $5! This place is not fancy and attracts a crowd that loves dancing. Thus 4.5 stars from me. Pros: dance loving crowd no attitude if there's cover it is going to be small resonably priced drinks photo booth Cons: dance floor could be bigger

Starlight Room I am now fortunate enough to say that I have been to the Drag Brunch at Harry Denton's Starlight room. This was one of the most unique, interesting, and odd experiences in my life. Like me explain the concept. You go the gorgeous Starlight Room, which is located on the top floor of a downtown hotel. Then, you eat a good, but pretty typical brunch. After eating, you are then entertained/molested/teased by drag queens. I had an old friend in town, and she found the event online before coming out to visit. She is very much a drag show aficionado, and was very impressed with the "girls". The ladies were pretty outrageous, the dresses very loud, and the numbers over the top. All the things one expects at a drag show. We also were able to meet the famous Harry Denton. We were a few minutes late to the show, and he gave up his seat for my friend and I. The man was pure charm, was a great host, and personally took care of us despite being the assholes that were twenty minutes late. All and all, it was a really fun event, and would be perfect to take unsuspecting out of town visitors to go see. The MC of the event, (forgot her name) was a fantastic host and very engaging. Also, the performer Cassandra Cass is worth mentioning as he/she is disturbingly hot. As my friend said as Cassandra stripped down to practically nothing "Gay, straight, or bi, I don't care who you are, that girl is smoking hot". I am glad that I only had limited exposure out of fear that a Mango (Chris Kattan SNL) type situation may develop. The whole experience has put a strange though in my head. If I could star at Cassandra and not identify her as a man sober, how could I possibly be better at making this determination with the 2-3 gin martinis that are usually working their way through my system? Haiku ! Mmmm Eggs Benedict.... How's that possibly a dude? Rhinestones everywhere Talent Level: High end stripper hot, but packing an unpleasant surprise. Also, the waitresses wear these super slinky black dresses with low cut backs and very high slits. They are also highly attractive females (I hope). To the ginger that is a dead ringer for the actress Isle Fisher, if you see this, shoot me an email. I am sorry for staring. No, wait. I am not sorry.
