by Eileen L. on sigh.... i thought growing up in a community where i was always surrounded by over 70% asians (no joke... wikipedia walnut, CA) i would have been prepared for asian invasion saturday... not even my 4 month study abroad in Taiwan helped me with exchange LA. 95% asians... stick thin chicks, stick thin guys.. who were terrible dancers not sure what the DJ was spinning half the time.. weird music selection the venue wasn't bad... pretty big, nice blue glow, and a ton of bars... drinks were super strong... that deserves a star.. but were also vegas-like expensive :/ waiting in a relatively long line before getting in .. no go unless it's for Voyeur if i come back... definitely not gonna be here on a saturday!
by Abel Holyoak on Pros: I love this place! I love this place! I love this place! I guess it is not a good enough reason. The venue is not fancy, it is just very open with high ceilings. The smoking area is a legit area and not on the side of the streets where you have to show your stamp to get back in. I guess I like the diversi-style of this place. It is not just electro dance music. They have hip hop nights, pop nights, and other. The crowd is very mix with different types of people (surprisingly!). Yes there are a majority of the scenesters and hipsters, but there are others to see/hear good music. Definitely check their website every 3 months for upcoming performers and events http://www.mezzaninesf... Cons: It can get really crowded at some events. You might have to buy tickets before you get to the door sometimes. The smoking area can get crowded. These are all baby cons compare to how fun the place is. Recommendations: Most nights you can go without a worry, but when there is someone performing there--like any concert or show, buy your tickets via online before going there so you're guarantee to get in. Oh get there in a timely manner--it can get cold in your partying clothes if you're waiting outside.
by Chuck B. on Great bar! The bartenders are fun and friendly. they have great happy hour specials and good live music on weekends. it is also a great place if you like to go dancing dancing. :)
