by Pamila Wonser on Even though I lived right across the street from Sherlocks for about 4 years, I actualy went for the first time just about a year ago. All my friends loves it. Its a very chill bar with lots of different people. During the summer we would hang and drink on their patio. The only thing Ive ate here is their sampler appetizer tray which is above average compared to most bar food. The staff is awesome, friendly, and fast. I normally come here during thurs - sat so its normally pretty busy and has a packed crowd. If you are lucky, you can catch a night when they also have live bands that play.
by Wan Kozubal on This place is a perfect example of how i feel about the majority of, if not all, 'clubs' in SF (and i adored almost every club in the meatpacking district in nyc, so i am not a club hater)--cute place, filled with trashy, ghetto people. We came here after i'd heard good things but never made the trek over here. After having a fairly unsuccessful thursday night out (empty places/closed for the night/etc), we figured what the hell, may as well give it a go. I get emails about 100x a week for events here, so had rsvped to random locations in the off chance we may end up using it. I don't see why they bother having a list as the place was hardly packed (although it was not empty either), and we got there at around midnight, when i'd think there'd be a line (if ever there was one). The crowd was as all SF clubs have been--cheap, trashy dressed characters, mostly foreign (eastern european, not that i have anything agsinst eastern europeans, but i do have something against trashy ghetto people..when i'm dressed up to go to a 'nice club'), and as someone mentioned previously, god awful music (i love techno, but this sounded like something my dog mixed or something. god awful). the drinks were as i'd expect at an actually nice club ($$, yet not a nice club obviously), and apparently virgin. we took shots (he made us god awful red bull concoctions. i fucking hate red bull. nor requested it.), got a double sprite vodka, and had been drinking all night, yet still left this place far too sober (especially considering the depths of trashed i would have to be to be able to tolerate this place, correction, the clientele here again). side note, the bathroom was highly bizarre--coed, with segregated stalls for male or female..i practically had to drag my boyfriend back there as he was convinced he would walk into the female bathroom by accident.. starting to lose hope....are there no non trashy ghetto clubs in SF?! i understand this is not new york, but seriously... as my friend said 'its about picking the best of the worst'...sincerely discouraging.
by Will Y. on I've always enjoyed walking up to the restaurant since it is designed similar to a vintage home located right in the middle of the Midtown nightlife venues. Being a huge fan of southern cooking, I may be a bit biased in my review. That being said, I love this place. It is a more upscale take on traditional southern fare that satisfies my palate. I most recently had the chicken and dumplings, and surprised myself by devouring the entire dish. I know several people that have been here, and not one of them has said a negative thing about this place. I've always been a fan of The 5th Group, who owns the restaurant, and will continue to come back to South City Kitchen.
