by ennis o. on I went to my first show at the Rrazz Room this week and had an AWESOME time. Now, that is of course because I saw B.O.O.B.S. (you must go see this the next time they perform), but the Rrazz Room itself was a great venue. While on the small side it makes for an intimate experience. The service was good, the production good - just all around beautiful time. Can't wait to see more shows here now!
by Cyrelle D. on I never knew... So sad... I've been led to believe that Zeitgeist had the best beer garden in town. I've lived in the Bay Area for three years, and for almost two of them, only about five blocks from El Rio, and I never knew how great it was. All those missed opportunities of sitting under a lemon tree and sunny sky, drinking a beer. Barring the fact that Zeitgeist beer garden is larger, to me El Rio tops it in every way. It is has a variety of seating and different areas to hang out in, the greenery is very haute for a dive bar with all the beautiful trees and shrubs, and it is a lot less raucous. It is pretty sheltered, so at night it doesn't even get that cold. I went there for a Rateclub happy hour, so I don't know what the usual crowd is like, but it seems like it would draw a great mix of people. Factor in the pool table, shuffleboard, and happy hour prices, and I couldn't ask for anything more. Regarding Phil H.'s review where he said, "What I don't love about El Rio: It's not near my house." What I do love about El Rio: It's near my house.
