I really don't know what to say about my experience at Compound. Everything that I didn't expect to happen, happened. It was one of the more weirder moments of my trip to ATL, but here goes... I was forewarned by photos of Compound to pretty much get here early. Not only that due to regular business, but due to the fact that Diddy was going to be there. You would figure that 10:30 would be a good time to get here right? Nah, not even close. Total wait in line: 2 hours. No bull... Chris Brown. Yeah, there was a cut line, and it was $40. I don't know if this was the regular price or higher due to Diddy being there, but I didn't need to cut the line that bad. NOTE: If you have a pass from a promoter for free admission, make sure to have the email on your phone verifying that the pass was sent directly to you. Yes, I actually had to have this in order to use the pass. If not, it would've been $20. Oh yeah, and make sure the pass is not folded up or they won't accept it. After finally getting in, me and the crew pretty much had a good time. The music on both dance floors was pumping, beautiful women everywhere, and we were all enjoying ourselves. On the main floor (second dance floor, bottom level), it was packed like a can of sardines. I couldn't move without throwing having to throw some 'bows around, and it was like that all night. Even at 3 am. Found out that smoking is allowed in this club as well. I guess that's regular in many ATL clubs. Not my cup of tea though. The bouncers were pretty much on point, no complaints there. They did their job without being off the wall aggressive, even when Diddy showed up. Overall, the crew had fun, barring the hiccups in the beginning. I would have to come here again when there's not a big hoopla about a celebrity being there.

Went to Strip for the first time on a Tuesday. We selected Strip for its steak and sushi menu and its relative closeness to downtown as we were taking out a friend staying at the Omni. We should have planned ahead and made reservation elsewhere as Strip really wasn't that great. It wasn't bad, but not great considering the price. The boy had the rib eye with a loaded baked potato. The steak was OK, a tad bit on the salty side. I had the Volcano roll combo and the Langosta roll. The sushi was ok, but both rolls had way too much going on with way too many flavors. I couldn't taste the tuna in the Volcano roll nor could I taste the lobster in the Langosta roll. Our friend had the Philly roll which was decent and some other roll that was deep fried. She liked it, but wasn't wowed by it. For dessert we shared the chocolate chip pecan tart, which was pretty good. (Note, this was the third choice, because they had sold out of the chocolate cake and the bread pudding.) If you're looking for a really good steak and sushi, head elsewhere. If you're looking for scene and loungy ambiance, grab a table at Strip.

Ok we didn't actually go in. But $20/pp cover is a little lame in my opinion. We stood in line for 5 mins thinking it over and in the meantime realized we were surrounded by a swarm of annoying Indian people dressed in their tackiest. I can say this because I'm Indian, ok. Needless to stay, we pocketed our $20s and slipped into The Park which is next door and had no cover. So there.
