by Joan P. on We experienced one of the best concerts ever- at Yoshi's- Seth Walker & Raul Malo. They played without a break for almost 3 hours. Everyone was thoroughly enjoying themselves. We started off this magical evening with a very good dinner at Yoshi's. Sushi & tempura were very good. The black cod & Wagyu beef were excellent. The peanut butter cup chocolate dessert was also outstanding! Service was great. Yoshi's is a wonderful, intimate venue for concerts. This will be a night we remember for years!
by Herb Craton on I love the history of the hotel (first Academy Awards held in the Blossom Ballroom), but did not enjoy staying there. I had a suite-like room and it was freakin' scary. When they converted this hotel back in the day, they took an old hotel with a bunch of rooms and reduced the number of rooms by connecting some. So all rooms are configured differently. The door to my suite opened to a long hallway with my bathroom at the end. My living room was one door on my left, followed by my bedroom to the left down at the end before the bathroom. The turndown service included them turning on the TVs so they glowed this ominous blue screen, and there was a pink glow coming from my bathroom because of the color of the tile. The whole place was freaky and the TVs were like from the 80s. We held an event there, and one of our staff said she heard footsteps and couldn't sleep the entire night. The newer cabana rooms by the pool are completely modern, but they have prison-like bathrooms that are really cold and concrete. But all those rooms come with flat screens and you have your own little fire pit and can walk right out to the pool (bottom-level obviously). If you plan on peace and quiet, don't stay in those rooms because of the music by the pool and people hanging out at that bar late into the evening. If you have friends who like star sightings, this is a good place: Prince, the guy from the Alaskan crab fishing show, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, and Melanie Griffith were there during the time we stayed there. We also used the Marilyn Monroe suite which was supposedly haunted too. Wouldn't mind if I saw her. Just not other creepy ghosts. Hotel was very easy to work with though.
