I am a fan. I am an addict. I succumb every Thursday. But I NEVER go on weekends because it just gets too crowded. Salsa night is every Thursday and Cocomo's never fails to impress with either a live band or free pizza or a wonderful array of ladies at the ready to dance the next song. I come for the salsa practice being that it is my newfound passion, and although I hit a few other spots on a regular basis for the same reason, Cocomo's has my favorite track record for just being a great night. There have been nights when it was so crowded all I could do was watch and marvel and there have been nights where I couldn't stop to breathe because there was just too many dancers to dance with. There have been times when I have been stepped on by 6 inch heels or elbowed in the face by 6 foot frames. My perseverance will be the death of me but for now Cocomo's is my go to place on Thursdays for salsa. On a more specific note: They have a new large dance floor that was recently redone and not to mention the smaller dance area by the bar at the back and, from what I hear a third dance area on the upper level but I have yet to venture there. The bathrooms are somewhat clean and well stocked and the bar is generous in their alcoholic portions. The coat check is a mess so be warned and it's better to just put your stuff in a table or chair in the back by the bar. The staff is friendly and thankfully recognize their regulars and the live bands have all been awesome and a real pleasure to appreciate on their elevated stage. Make sure to look up events on their calendar because there have been nights where it has been free and other nights were we have paid $20 for cover. Also it helps to know events because we have gone on the occasional night to find that tuxedo and cocktail dresses are of preference and well, have felt underdressed. Thank you Cocomo's for what I'm sure will be a lifetime of memories!

I felt really cool when I had dinner here. Maybe because Carrie Bradshaw had drinks here. But, seriously, I think it's an experience having dinner here. Your eyes can't help but wander over to the 16-foot tall Buddha sitting as the backdrop of the restaurant. What was even more appealing to me was sitting next to a table of what looked like a group of 10 year old girls and their mothers. Perhaps one of the girls was celebrating her birthday. It looked like something out of the "Nanny Diaries" minus the nannies. You know what I'm talking about. Whatever happened to Chuck E. Cheese? Now, that's when you know you're in New York City. Food was good. I ordered the Sake-tini...it was very strong. Try the lychee martini. This is one of those places you should check out if you haven't done so. Not sure if I'd come back. Maybe if I was with a first-time visitor.
