"now at the bar where my friend's band is playing. there is a hipster in a dark corner sulking and writing. he hasn't moved in a half hour and may be dead. I am dressed like a typical Republican." I'd been to the older Knitting Factory a way back (the one that was multiple levels). my friend's band, who I kept promising to see but hadn't yet, was playing here, so I figured I'd venture deep into Occupied Williamsburg to right this wrong. the bar itself was decent. some booths, an uncomfortable-looking table, and some stools at the bar. a bunch of organic beers on tap - yep, we are definitely DEEP in the People's Republic of Hipsteria! luckily, Brooklyn Brewery Pennant Ale, Stella, and Sweet Action are also on tap, and they have a variety of cans. there's a small "stage" with a mixer and a speaker, which I guess they use for stuff like open mics. beyond the Great Glass Wall behind the bar itself is the concert venue proper. it's fairly small, but the acoustics are decent, and there's a bar in here as well. drafts are $5, a mixed drink was $7 (it was not a big cup, but was potent), the bathroom was surprisingly clean. I'd go back to see more shows here, even though it is in the middle of Occupied Williamsburg. my anti-irony deflector shield is powerful. and, in response to the text I sent (which is quoted at the beginning of this review), one of my friends responded with "you are a true American hero".

Went here to see a headline comedy show that had 2 bands opening for them.  The show was awesome and I loved the combo of laughs and tunes.  The club itself is pretty big and the high ceilings give you more breathing room.  The DJ they had there for the intermission times was good and the service (doorman, bartenders) was great.... I know I'm actually complimenting the doorman.  Anyway, cool place and an easy location to get to if you're coming in from outside the city.
