I've never had a bad experience at Vertigo. I've had fun every single time. If that's not five stars, then I don't know what is. Maybe I'm jinxing myself by saying that. Whatever. I'll risk it. I've been to Vertigo for a couple special DJ nights, a friend's bachelorette party, and many times for their Sunday Rock Band nights (free!). Every single time has been entertaining, across the board. Vertigo is also the San Francisco bar in which I've spent the most physical time (with Gestalt Haus running a close second). It's laid-back, friendly, and conveniently located. Drinks are cheap, tasty, and strong (try the Polk Punch or the sangria). Modest but solid beer selection. Ample space, and if you're into it, a separate smoking area. P.S. Seriously, Rock Band nights at Vertigo are Awesometown, USA. They've got pretty much every Rock Band song available to play, a big projector, and free play + tournaments, depending on the evening/turnout. P.P.S. Don't smoke, cigarettes are bad for you.

I went to Earth on a Saturday night... even though it was a friend's birthday, and we had "a list" or whatever, we still had to wait online for a bit (as there was a pretty long line to get in). But, once inside, I have to admit that I was digging the ambiance. Drinks were average city price (a.k.a. expensive), but the music was pretty good, and I did have a lot of fun. A few cool things about Earth: the dancers by the entrance on the top floor and the "candle-lit" wall... which, if you ask me, I just might reveal the mystery of how they manage to light all of those candles...
