Make sure you dress, not that it matters but this place is all about the looks. And not having the "look" might make you get less drinks at your table and the cold shoulder from the staff. But do realize this is a trendy place and is pricey. Love the ambiance, the decor, but not so much for the sappy men that hang out here. If you are looking for some hot looking guys, this is not the place ladies. And for you men, when you see a hot girl at least send over a drink or your business card instead of staring across the room. This place got class but I am not so sure about the people who go here. Enjoy on your own risk.

I saw Billy Bragg play an amazing two hour acoustic set at the GAMH this past October. Surprisingly, this was my first concert at the GAMH. I have to say, I was so blown away by how awesome Billy was that I failed to really pay attention to the venue. However, from what I recall - it was fine. Nice ambiance, they offer food and table service for drinks. Granted, drinks are expensive - but, you have to expect that for a concert venue. Also surprisingly, it might have been my LAST concert at the GAMH based on the experience I had there last month: I was supposed to go see The Dan Band at the GAMH in February -- however, I was unable to attend the concert due to a combination of being ill and working late. I tried to give the tickets to my friend Deb S. as an early birthday present... however, I was given bad information by the customer service representative at http://Tickets.com(saying that if I gave Deb my confirmation email she could pick up my tickets w/out me being there) and the GAMH box office wouldn't let her have the pre-paid tickets... not even after I called them to verify any and all info they could require. The box office manager tried to be helpful - but, was firm on the policy that only the person who bought the tickets could claim the tickets - as I live in Chinatown (and, was home with the stomach flu at that point) I wasn't about to trek down there to show them my DL... he gave me the phone number of the http://Tickets.comoffice and the name of the day box office manager -- I have left several messages at http://Tickets.comand sent an email -- no recourse or response as of yet. Meaning that I've had to eat $60 in tickets that I never got to use. Let me precede this next statement by saying - I have run a box office for a big theatre venue... that being said: It seemed to me like the box office manager should have had more power to make exceptions, etc. for situations like this. (Esp. given that I gave him every piece of information which is ON my drivers license AND offered to bring a copy of the DL to the box office when I was not puking my guts out any longer.) And, the subsequent lack of resolution in either refunding me my tickets or providing tickets to an alternative event (by either http://Tickets.comor the GAMH) causes to knock two stars (one for each ticket) off of what would have otherwise been a five-star review... A five star review based solely on the power of Billy Bragg.
