by Tina K. on I went to middlesex on a friday night when DJ Knife; Fresh Produce was playing and i LOVED IT. ALL old school classic hip hop. A lot of dancing and good times. It laid back atmosphere and an overall modern vibe.

It has all the elements to make it a premiere club: clean, classy, spacious, indoor/outdoor, gogo dancers, a nice staff, and a good crowd. I'm a house music kind of guy and am usually anti rap, but I enjoyed the environment at this club so much, that I had no problem getting down to hip hop/rap. We got there around 9:30pm. This way we were able to avoid paying a cover and take advantage of the Free Vodka Cocktails until 10:00pm. Any venue that offers free booze is going to get a high ranking. They also had free cupcakes, fresh fruit and chocolate fondue available. The only downside to this club is the price for drinks. A simple Captain Coke is going to cost $11. It's a bit pricy, but then again it's Hollywood, what do you expect? I would definitely go back to this club again!!!
by Merlin Dimes on I had to write a review in order to counter rob c.'s assertion that "The Brand New Heavies" are NOT adult contemporary. They ARE. Anyone with me? Saw The English Beat at Mezzanine the other night and man, it was so much fun. See this picture taken there: http://www.flickr.com/... As rob c. said, the moshing and slamming was SO much fun. The beer selection wasn't fantastic - well, no heffeweisen so Mezzanine loses a star for me! The price for the show was good - $17.00. The sound was great. The staff were very friendly. All in all, a really fun night and I'll definitely return for more good tunes.
