by sandra f. on Club Shelter Review 4am -until ? I have never gone to Greenhouse for any of their parties. This review is strictly for people interested in Club Shelter/Timmy Regisford party from Saturday 4am until 10am -12 Sunday. The music is still great, people are friendly and there to dance and have a good time. I arrived at 5am, the old crowd is mostly out, the new crowd arrives and continues to arrive heavily between 7am and 8am. I usually go to Shelter by myself, and did not find the bouncers pretencious and have a great time dancing and talking with people. The cover is $20. Never paid more than that. The crowd are true deep house/house fans and are not there for any other reason but to dance and listen to Timmy Regisford. I dont live in NYC in anymore, but when I use to live there, I would go to Shelter regularly before greenhouse renovated the club. I actually don't like the renovations, it took away alot of the raw dance space, but I understand the owners want to make money. The dance floor is tight, but aesthitically the club looks nicer. If you are looking to just dance (I wore jeans, tank top and dance shoes, very casual), and reminants of what old NY was like than Shelter is the place to be. But if you are looking for a 'scene' than Shelter may not be for you.
by Felicidad Foat on Overall I had a great time. Why did I have a great time? Pros - *** Didn't wait in line. Walked right in. Free. FABULOUS! :) *** Everyone was fun. Drinks from promoters... Shall a girl ask for more? *** Music was good for the most part. Pretty consistent which was surprising. Some good hip hop joints, good old school.... Sometimes they threw in some weird trance or dance songs that did not mix well with the other music. *** Smoking area was "indoor" so it wasn't freezing. *** HARD DRINKS *** Great mix of people Ok. Sounds good so far right? Well why the 3 stars? They're lucky they got 3 from me. Things that can decrease the amount of fun in one night. ** OVERHYPED ** Dance floor is TINY ** Smoking area is SO warm ** No ash trays... WTF? Everyone ashes n throws butts in their cups. Um yea. They wash them and re-serve. Yuck. ** No where to get fresh air ** VIP area is small ** Security is pretty anal ** Difficult to find the faucet in the bathroom. hahah. esp when buzzed. ** Cramped ** Lots of horny, horny crazy people/men (more than I've seen in a while) ---- some people might move this in the pro side. ** Parking was $10 or $15. I think $15. GEEZ! ** If you do not know someone, it looks like you are waiting a LOOOOONG TIME. ** Oh. I was underdressed. Many people were HELLA dressed up. Overall I had a great time. Great friends, great promoters, no waiting, and if I don't consider alot of things it would have been 5 stars on the laughing alone. There are alot of good looking people, dressed up people, and lots of Asian women looking for non-Asian men (VERY APPARENT on Saturday night). Thanks to everyone that came out. :) GREAT TIMES!
