by Tom C. on Tahcha was disappointing. Even after reading all the rave reviews it didn't live up to my expectation. First of all, the place is in an obscure place where Big Lots and oddly located club named Velvet Room. Upon entering, I ordered a pomegranate-mango boba tea and my friend ordered Basil Lemonade. You would think the worse drink out of the two would be the Basil Lemonade but it wasn't. The Pomegranate-mango boba tea tasted like strawberry quik with boba. I did not taste the mango or pomegranate. The basil lemonade was surprisingly good because it tasted like a virgin lemony mojito. I didn't think basil would go well with the lemonade. The tea house could definitely use another barista to make teas. It took a long time for my friend and I to receive our teas. Other than that the place is alright....not totally impressed.
by Romeo Souvannavong on According to the Velvet List, if you say you're on it, then you'll get in for free before 12AM. Guess what? NOT... we got there around 10PM to make sure we got in before 12...my friends and i said we were on the Velvet List and we were given paper tickets. I was thinking great, no need to pay...but gee whiz, guess what, guys = $20 and girls = free. This place sucks and the drinks are overpriced and watered-down. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.
by Hollis Perciful on Hey there, Upper East Siders...er West Chelsea-ers. Your former mayor was feeling very Gossip Girlicious this Sunday when he finally managed to get to 1Oak, the new home of Gay Sunday nights in NYC (and the location for a recent episode of the best thing to happen to TV). While there were no Serena sightings, there were wall to wall cute boys, amazing beats by the amazing Ms. Lina on the turn tables, and lots of fun and flirty times. Sundays remain, as ever, my favorite night to go out in NYC. As everyone has mentioned, the decor of this place is really something special. It combines a lot of fun design elements, mostly working with words and letters (and some interesting murals), and I don't really know why, but it just works, and I love it (and no, I swear it's not just because they filmed Gossip Girl here). Drinks are no joke expensive ($14 for a g&t, ouch - imagine if I had ordered a martini), but it's to be expected in such places. I can't comment on its ridiculousness on a random night, but I expect you'll find me there on Sundays. Oh, and I got recognized from rateclubs. Yes, it's tough being a C-list internet celebrity, but somehow I manage. Til next time, xoxo, Sam P.
