by Amrita C. on I went here twice in the last week. The first time it was good music, well-dressed crowd, amazingly light oriental decor and good drinks. But by 3am, we were among the very last few in the house, wish the party lasted longer. The second time I went there for the ambience, the open terrace/balcony, reassurance of the dancing crowd, but the music wasn't very good. The DJ ruined all the songs, stripped them down to a few of his favorite beats that he ran all night long. I could go back but I'd wish for something more.

Usually very busy, this place is excellent, offering a delicious array of Texas barbecue, along with some sweet treats and excellent service. O f their meats, the sausage and turkey are excellent - the ribs are usually good, but are sometimes a little too charred for my liking. The sides are also excellent, but my favorite thing about this place is the desert! OMG, save some room in your tummy and have some pecan pie à la mode it is EXCELLENT!
by Clyde Bruner on I really enjoy a good Gyro, and Taverna Plaka has a really good one! The environment is fun and engaging, the food is exceptional and the portions are large (when you dine in). My only complaint is when I call in for take-out, the portions are only a fraction of what they are when you dine-in, although the price is the same. Dining in gets 5 stars, take-out gets 2.5 stars, so I'm giving them 4 on this one.
