I love this place it has the best variety of music in the city from middle eastern punk bands, to Brazilian to kompa to hard core hip-hop they have it. That being said check ahead on the web site so that you dont get caught in an uncomfortable crowd cause the patron span anywhere from young 21yr old hipster rap to 28+ young proffessionals and its a smaller club with no seating which can get packed but the staff is friendly and the vibe is right Plus call ahead and reserve the small vip area it has tables and i hear the coconut shrimp is to die for

Forget the few negatives... They are irrelevant in the case of Kat's Cafe. I try my best to hit as many live music venues whenever and wherever. My footprints have been left in live music venues from New York to Vegas and Chicago to Florida. Small venues have to do something different to distinguish themselves and in this case, the difference here is Kat herself. Kat is a wonderful hostess and does everything she can to accommodate her patrons. If you went and didn't have a conversation with her, then you missed the Kat's Cafe experience. The bands play everywhere in the city. The drinks are all the same and funny, cute bartenders are easy to find. Lapses in service happen every where. There's but one Kat. And that's why you go. I've been looking for my Atlanta hangout for years... I finally found it.

Is there a dance floor? Frightfully skinny boys I can crush with my butt cheeks? Pretty cheap mixed drinks? Occasionally scary armpit smells? Pigeon-toe standing girls who intentionally fussed dirt through their hair to look legit? Good music most nights? Check, check, and check. This is people-watching heaven when the music isn't doing it for you. And if people-watching doesn't do it for you either, I'm sure some of these kids have some substance in their pockets that will. But 9 times out of 10 I'll be on the dance floor, so I don't see any of that first hand. All I know is afterwards I need a good shower, I'll be aiming to get dirt *out* of my hair, and my ballroom feet will always be at 11 and 1.
