Went to this place after attending a Fashion Show in LA a few weeks ago. Walked in and walked out. Incredibly lame and would never go again. Just a crappy vibe and lousy feeling from the people that worked there. Not much else to say.

A great new addition to what is becoming a fine selection of excellent restaurants on the the east side. Locally source ingredients, homemade charcuterie, creative cocktails; the new typical. A good complement to the Good Knight just down the road but more in the feel of a lively parisian cafe than a speakeasy. A bit loud during the happy hour transition as the loud (and good) day music bounces around with the lively eclectic mix of excited customer conversations. Food was excellent: one cannot beat the happy hour special: the showroom (a deal: pork rillette, bourbon liver mousse w candied bacon, two local cheeses, a shot of quality vodka & aquavit all for $14. excellent creative & unique cocktails (on par with Peche, Good Knight, & La Condesa). they are probably a dollar or two overpriced ($8-11) based on their sizing and the location; but top quality. They offer two different grits dishes which always amuses; still not sure where they source them (they said the local distributor provides, but I don't quite believe - I'm thinking an anson mills or quality import: nothing wrong with that). So a great space for reading and lounging or lively conversations over unique refreshing created cocktails (or a good selection of beer; even of the $2 variety); shrimp & grits; and a great staff. check it out and enjoy a lively addition to east side dining.

A friend who goes to Harvard told me that people only go to the "Kong" when drunk. I should've heeded his warning. We went for comedy night and it was unfunny. The host was self-deprecating but in a awkward sort of way. The food wasn't as bad as I had expected, but it was by no means good. Your typical Americanized Chinese takeout fare. Cool sign though.
