If you can get your butt in a booth order a drink and enjoy the show! It's a real mixed crowd and the bar gets more and more fun as time goes on. Oscar's has this great old school feel and the staff is fun and totally along for the ride.
by Christina S. on Honestly, I could give two s$&^ if Vincent Gallo (even though i think he's hot) stayed here or Jimmy Hendrix or Little Richard.. I would not ever be a repeat offender and come back to this place again! When we decided to come to SF rather than Portland I texted my friend who lives in SF asked her for a good recommendation on boutique hotels. Her response was the Phoenix. I in turn told my boyfriend that she recommend the Phoenix and that was that. He made all the plans, bookings. Not, once did I ever look at the website nor read reviews. Nada. Too busy with work and tons of projects going on that I failed in looking this place up. So, the morning that we began our road trip I then looked it up.. Bummed is all that I could say. The rooms looked lame. Now for my 2 star experience. So after two great nights at Hotel Diva we drive out to the Phoenix. First impression is I liked the place. Dug the front office/check-in. The courtyard is cute with the pool and cabanas. The front office/check in has a complete different look than the rooms. Mid-century style.. Then we walk into the room. I'm upset that my bf paid $180 for this dump! The bed spread looked like come cheap spread from a Motel 6, three small pillows on the bed that were a joke. Small, shitty pillows. The photo on the site of the bed had bigger pillows. The television is a old box TV mounted with those old school wall mounts that you will find in hospital rooms. The dirty carpet was also a turn off. I forgot to mention a old microwave that is straight from the 90's. I wanted to check out but didn't want to make a fuss. Bathroom time... So, we are getting ready to head out and about. Use that bathroom and try to flush and the handle completely falls off. So, the bf fixed it. Now, it didn't happen once it happened every time we flushed. SO, this is something that has obviously been over looked by housekeeping, maintenance and management. We did forget to mention it to the front desk. I hope that it will one day get fixed. Well, at least they have a coffee maker. So, I thought... I like lots of creamer in my coffee. In fact a splash of coffee with my creamer. Noticed they had two packets of the powdered creamer so before heading out on our day we stopped by and requested some extra packets. The front desk guy pulled a drawer open couldn't find any responded with "house keeping has them and they are gone for the day" and he then suggested that I can go across the street to a liquor store and pick up "one of those small creamer containers" .... Yes, that is exactly what we want to do. Go to the liquor store while on our little holiday and buy a carton of creamer. I was a little shocked that he suggested that and we left. Shocked because .. Hello the rate to stay here is a joke.. They are charging a rate that would normally be the going rates at nicer places. So, with that said he couldn't go out of his way to find some creamer. LAME. So, after a long day out we return retire. We get all ready crawl into bed and AWESOME. Stinky ass linens! The pillow cases had a gnarly stench! I was annoyed. I felt gross sleeping here and wanted out! I even smelt the towels when it came to shower time. Oh, that coffee pot that I was excited to see was broken. So, kudos to you Phoenix for having a complementary continental breakfast where I picked up some coffee. The only good things that I like here was the free parking, they have free internet , cool little pool area but it was too cold to take a dip and they also use Lather bath products! I love Lather! A lounge I latter found out that they had here. Well, know one told us about a bar/lounge when we were checking in. Great service people Thumbs up. You suck! This wanna be cool arrogance that this place exudes is a joke taking our money to the bank. Cool, I get it.. You want to be cool by trying not to try. Yet you do and you still are not impressive. Ive stayed at many quarky theme boutique hotels before but this place was just awful.... Sorry, I don't like writing negative reviews because who wants to be negative? But, I hope to save the next person some money.. There are far better places... Oh.. AND WATCH YOUR STEP people.. I didn't see the sign when we were walking down stairs fro our room and I took a little fall.. It scared the bf for a minute then we laughed.. Then he asked.. "DIDN'T YOU READ THE SIGN"? SO watch it!
