by Jack C. on It was my parent's 41st anniversary and I thought I would take them somewhere they had never been but wanted to try. I told them it was a chain and they said that's fine. I made a reservation online via their website which redirects you to http://Opentable.com reservations. Maggiano's called to confirm earlier that day. Upon our arrival we were greeted with smiles and seated right a way. They seemed very busy but all was flowing like water from a waterfall. Cool and calm. We were waited on by a server named Colt. He was very nice and very accommodating. We ordered some apps. The calamari and the tomato caprese. The calamari was average but the tangy tartar sauce it came with was zesty and refreshing. The tomato caprese was delicious. Huge pieces of tomato served with your norm of mozzarella, basil, and drizzled with a sweet balsamic. We ordered our entrees and the one my girlfriend wanted was not on the menu. Linguine with white clam sauce. I asked Colt if that would be a problem, he said not at all. It turns out they are changing their menu and the Austin location is the first to set the trend. My sister and I ordered the gnocchi. The good thing about our pasta dish is you get to take a whole other order of it home if you wish to. That means I get to have a gnocchi dish for lunch. That made the meal even sweeter! My family enjoyed the experience and that is all that matters to me. If I take someone somewhere I expect their experience to be a good one. Maggiano's you have made my parents happy so, you have made Mr. Smidgens happy!!
by Roderick Bippus on Located in Atlanta's newest outdoor mall area of Atlantic Station, Rosa Mexicano is all the rage in this strip mall-centric city. I was reading the local "alternative" newspaper (think Village Voice, but not really), and the food critiic couldn't even get in there to review it. Much to my suprise, my friends and I were able to get in during lunch, and we were smart enough to make reservations so that we didn' t have to wait 1 hour for a table. The margaritias are a bit pricey, but they definately pack a punch, especially on an empty stomach. The guacamole, prepared tableside is freshand delicous, but I'm not sure it's worth the price tag. I had the soft tacos with pork. The meat was very tender and full of flavor. The portions look small, but they are quite filling and worth the price. In short, I didn't feel ripped off, so I'd recommend Rosa Mexicano.
