My friend and I were walking down the street to meet up with a promoter at Kress, when a Russian-looking man at Playhouse approached us and asked us to come inside.. He said he'd walk us right in, despite the long line. We figured "Why not?" The ambiance is decent--not extravagant, but not dingy. And the music was good... We enjoyed watching the go-go dancers and the "cirque-du-soleil" dude.... I would rate my first experience there 4 stars... I went back once more that summer and the experience was just about the same. The last 2 times I have been there (January '10 and April '10), it has been like a mix between Jersey Shore and a weird drug-induced high school dance. Let me explain: After midnight, you are stuck listening to house music and watching lots of fist pumping---heque you might even join in after a while.. I know I did (in a jokeful manner)!!! And everyone there looks sooooo young, like high school-aged kids!!! And they appear to be cracked out.. The first 3 times I went there, some dudes invited my friends and I to their table, so we did not buy any drinks at the bar... However, the last time I was there with a large group celebrating a friends bday, and we bought a couple drinks at the bar. We noticed the female bartender at the back bar serves much stronger drinks than the wimpy dude in the center bar... So choose your bartender wisely if you go here (BACK BAR)!!! This club is obviously fading in popularity as was evidenced by the half-packed venue. The go-go dancers and cirque-du-soleil dude are still doing their thing... And I have to admit to having a crush on the go-go dancer in the center cage above the bar---she's hot and I can sure learn some bedroom moves from her!!! A major MINUS is the fact that they are sooooooo overly wasteful at this club--- the owners decided it was cool to "make it rain" by throwing thousands of napkins everywhere at random points throughout the night... No you wasteful jerks... you know what would be cool? Making it rain with actual MOOOLAH... But seriously, napkins? VERY UNECESSARY... TREE KILLERS!!!! Oh yah, and lastly, a lot of people take the liberty to smoke at their tables (indoors) so if indoor smoking bothers you BEWARE that it will probably happen here.... I guess when you are spending thousands of dollars for a table, there are a few things you can get away with (hey---I aint mad atcha)!
