I love the concept of Nightlife @ the Academy....meeting up with friends to sip cocktails, stroll around, and check out the exhibits. PROS: -Science is cool! -The albino alligator (he's back in commission!) -The entire aquarium area -Extreme mammals -Drink lines were orderly and civil (although sometimes a bit long)...no fighting to get a bartender's attention at a crowded bar, thanks to well-organized lines! CONS: -Nightlife ends way too early. I would love it if they stayed open later, especially since we drove all the way up from the South Bay for Nightlife. It's hard work getting up there during rush hour traffic if you don't work in the City, so please make it worth our whiel! -Lack of dance floor - It would have been cool to have a dance party in the aquarium (or maybe it just didn't happen the time I was there). I think the presence of dancing would help further differentiate Nightlife from the daytime Academy of Sciences experience...otherwise, it's not all that different if you've already been during the day. All in all, it's one of those things that you must experience at least once if you live in/around the city. Time to party with the fish!

Here's what happened: The Cafe was tired of trying to compete with all the other chic venues in the city that are all aspiring to look like a hot Vegas nightclub. The Cafe then did what most celebrities do- it underwent massive amounts of cosmetic surgery to stay in the game. I'm totally not hating. I would have done the same thing. And, now the Cafe looks incredible. It's now modern and chic with beautiful, clear, urban inspired touches and subtle, fluorescent lighting. They've even extended the ceilings to create a dramatic loft feel in some of the rooms, and added a lounge area (complete with black leather couches) in the back past the newly renovated bathrooms. It seems like the only thing that is missing are some Philippe Starck chairs and chandeliers.

Come see The Lantern for yourself. It is the oldest, coolest beer bar in Rome,Ga history. The beer is cold and the girls are hott !! Starting in 2009 we have dancing bar maids somewhat like the Nashville bars. Its exciting to watch and the music's always tuned to what the crowd expect's...The building may look old on the outside but the fun on the inside in new everytime you visit...See you there ! I got the lucky opportunity to tag along with the wife at her business lunch today. Her boss, a lovely man named Jim, chose Delux, and what a pleasant surprise. I ordered the cool Fresh Panini with fresh mozzerella cheese, fragrant basil and ripe tomatoes. MMM, so good, dipped into a mix of balsamic and olive oil. Morgan shared her burger with me, grassfed beef, and very juicy and delicious... I think it was topped with gorganzola? So clean tasting... on very good brioche buns. We also ordered a milk shake "that's a pretty fuckin good milk shake!"... chocolate goodness! And dont forget the fries... we all shared baskets of regular idaho and sweet potato fries, served with ketchup and a mayo type sauce... WHAT THE HELL? I dont like sweet potatoes or mayo, but why the hell couldn't I stop eating them!!! Crazy good... We HAVE TO GO BACK in the evening and try some beers, they have a ton on tap. I don't like beer, but I do want to TRY if its from this place :o) OH, one more thing, we sat at the bar and our server was awesome, Amanda was her name I believe. Very nice and even recommended Zen down the way, which I already have to try.
