I heard that the Boom Boom Room at the New York Standard has the best views of the city, so up to the 18th floor my buddy and I went. As expected, the views were amazing. The bathrooms even have delicious views (and subsequently, the people below have, well, not so delicious views looking in). The bar itself is some kind of 70s-80s tacky grandeur mess. But it works. We had quite the sticker shock when it came to our bill - it's no joke that cocktails here are $20 a pop. For downing $100+ worth of drinks, my friend and I should have been as upside down as the hotel logo. Here's a tip: go at 4pm on a weekday so there's no trouble getting in, dress in layers because it gets hot, and order a beer, not a cocktail. Enjoy the view.

"The Local" was a pretty nice place, nothing over the top fancy just a good bar and bbq there specialty is ribs/pork but i tried the half a chicken it was a little dry but im willing to give it another try. It was still pretty good though. And on the menu they had Belgium fries advertised but they seemed like plain old american fries to me and the pitchers of beer are a bit on the "wee"side. I asked our waitress why the pitchers were so small and she said there not regular size. "well can i get a regular size pitcher and not this pizza hut sized soda pitcher". To which she replied no : ) I guess they were Belgium pitchers or something idunno. But overall it was good beer, bbq, taters, and a bar full of people. Good times
