One of the worst experiences ever. Music sucks and it is impossible to breathe with one thousand people around. The stereo and music system are also weird and after staying inside for one hour we had to leave as all of us - we were three - has some sort of headache which I think was due to poor quality music system.

I will be the first to admit.. I'm a biased.. jaded... new york musician.. who has no right comparing unfairly.... any place outside of new york.. on jazz venue vibe and flow.... given my gothamcentric filter.. ok. thats my disclaimer.... I was in ATL on a business trip... and was keen on entering a watering hole with some dark velvet jazzy groove-a-delic aural essence. I grilled the front desk guy at the double tree hotel.. and he was clueless..but wrote good directions.. with a grin stuffed them into my suit jacket... and me and my friend walked out to the car.. turned the key put it in gear.. hit the gas.. driving through 10 p.m. evening stop lights. red, green, gold to the spot.. the band had one of those 80's clarence thomas.. no clemons sax players.. yunno the big guy who plays with springstreen's e street band... a few folks were bopping at the bar.. the tables were empty.. I spied a flat screen with ESPN near the bar.. sound on mute... some talking head between slam dunks... and swings of a bat saddled up next to a guy killing some sushi or something.. the bar tender... the sole bartender.. came up and I asked for a malbec.. she said.. no, we dont' have any.. pulled out a wine menu and disappeared for 20 minutes.. ok. maybe 10 but it felt like 20... I spied malbec on the damn menu... I said to her. when she came back.. hmmm. that is a malbec... she was like.. oh yeh.. it wasn't a great start I gazed up from the bar.. smling with my company.. when I got this itchy feeling... what is that? hmm.. oh god.. its "purple rain" is the band playing purple rain? jeez.. kinda cheesy... then came chameleon by herbie hancock.. ok.. don't mean to name drop.. my jazz snob was showing.... Here in gotham. we have cd101.. hip to this.. I'm not a listener...shall we say... I guess I came at the wrong night. by 11.. the place felt like a parking lot after the last car pulled out... they were closing.. oh jeez.. 11.. closing? outside... it was ghost city... time to return to the hotel.. I suppose.. even the gas pumps..at the filling stations.. (now that's a retro word from you... art deco perhaps..) felt like tombstones.... LOL - G
