Golden Temple is my jam. I've never had a go-to place in Boston. I have never pledged my loyalty to a neighborhood watering hole, I've never had a bartender who knew me by name, and I've never scribbled my name on a bathroom wall to mark my territory. Sad, I know. But don't cry for me any longer, rateclubs, because I think I have finally found my way home. Golden Temple (or "the GT" as I now refer to it) is a Chinese restaurant that turns into a club on the weekends. I went on a Friday with a bunch of friends and no, there wasn't anyone else in there except a few lurkers and some couples that were trying to get to second base with each other at their respective tables. But the GT willingly offered themselves over to us, and the rest is history. The DJ played anything we wanted. Literally, anything. From Melissa Etheridge (not my choice) to Jay Sean, it was like we had hooked up our iPod to the speakers. We could have requested the national anthem of France, and he would've played it. The waiters were also fabulous, always willing to chat and joke around. And I can't say from personal experience, but I heard during the course of the evening that the scorpion bowls are heavenly. There is only one chink in the GT armor, and this is it: the crab rangoons are awful. The taste like fish rangoons, which is not something I ever wanted to experience. Seriously bad. This would usually be a deal-breaker with any other Chinese restaurant, but dammit, when a place let's me have my own personal dance party on a Friday night, I just can't walk away from that. In conclusion, I am pledging complete loyalty to the GT, for better or worse, til death do us part (and if I ever eat the "crab rangoon" again, it just might come down to that).

Wonderful late night dining! Nearly everything I've tried has been fantastic. The scallops are consistently amazing quality. The tuna tartar is a must for an appetizer, absolutely delicious. High quality wait staff that is very attentive without hovering. Have also received very good wine recommendations to pair with the food.

Alright, obviously, I'm Asian, but I'm Not AZN. After all, you're reading Ed M's review, not *^* AzN eD m RaCeR bObA 4 lYfE bOi *^*'s review. Saturday nights at DNA Lounge are downright scary. Frightening. A part of me shrivels up and dies inside. These are my people? This is what I'm supposed to look like? I don't have a gangsta long hair spear in the front. I weigh more than 150 pounds. I don't drive a souped up Honda Civic. I have no desire to bleach my hair. I don't wear bling. I can't do the Korean cigarette crouch or the Vietnamese head tilt. I didn't go to Cal State Hayward or San Jose State. I don't live in Daly City. I pronounce it "truth" not "troof." I don't need a sexxxy AZN mama at my side. And I sure as hell look horrible in Armani Exchange baby blue tight tees. Asian nights (Fridays) aren't much better.
