This place is pretty hard to get into even if you know the promoters.  Either you need to buy bottle service or just be on the VIP list and go yourself.  I went with 7 of my friends and we waited like 2 hours before we can finally get in.  The hard part was getting the tickets to go in, we arrived really early however the comps were already gone.  Luckily i knew a few promoters who were able to get in me before the club hit capacity.  The decor is really nice there are two bars one near the outside patio and one near the dance floor.  The venue isnt huge but it is a nice size. Never the less i had a blast!

So whenever Lisa is hungry --- Lisa gets moody. She shuts down, doesn't talk, doesn't smile....... So I flew from Cali to Philly one weekend to meet up my hubby. I flew all day --- I was tired and hungry. I eventually reached to the point where my hunger died down ---- I HATE THAT FEELING! My hubby (poor guy) was pissing me off, he was indecisive, didn't know where to go --- he eventually decided on Continental. Continental wouldn't be my first pick --- but HE was desperate. We walked into the restaurant and were bombarded with douche bags and hoochies ---- woah woah, I thought I was coming in for dinner, not  to get my freak on. The hostess led us to our table --- two hanging wicker chairs --- you're fucking with me, right? By this point, I thought the food was going to be crap like the atmosphere and the clientele. I WAS WRONG! Lobster Mac and Cheese --- so creamy, so smooth. They used orzo pasta with chunks of REAL lobster and  bread crumbs sprinkled on top. Spinach Ravioli ---- Freshly made pasta stuffed with a mix of spinach, pine nuts, and ricotta --- with tomato sauce on the side Szechuan Shoestring Fries ----- so thin and so crispy, served with a side of chinese hot mustard ---- I used these fries to top my lobster mac and cheese so I get that extra crunch! I'm back in Cali and I keep thinking about that LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE! GOD, I wish there were a Continental in Sacramento!!!

i first went here in 2002 when it was still called the Palace.. and for some reason i still think of that name when i think of this place. their box office is never open, except for the night of the show.. so if you really want to insure getting tickets, you have to order them through ticketmaster. [-1 star for that] the shows here end early because after they're over, it turns into a dance club. that's alright and all, but the security here will actually kick you out if you're in there even 10 minutes after the headlining band has finished. i remember one time my friends and i went to meet one of the bands in the lobby near their merch booth and one of the security guards started yelling at the band members because they were signing stuff for us instead of packing their merchandise up so the dance club could get ready. [-1 star for that] a couple years ago i saw a taping of a tv show here.. it was a dating show with ryan cabrera.. pretty random. other than that, the avalon is a cool place. nice wooden standing room floor.. they have a balcony with theater seating if you just want to sit and watch the show. + doesn't get hot and smelly like a lot of other venues + they allow cameras - you're going to have to look hard for a meter or pay around $8 for the lot
