This review is for the restaurant only, no clubbing for me. (That part of my life is kaput.) I really wanted to love you, Mayes, but you were like a hot date w/ no substance or intellect. If you call yourself an "oyster house," then my assumption is that you have exceptionally fresh, good tasting oysters, and some variety too. What we experienced instead was a dzn ok-but-nothing-special and only 2 kinds. Vahhhht?! Even Whole Foods' seafood counter has more than 2 types. Not even in the same league as Nick's, Tony's, Hog Island, Zuni, Absinthe...need I go on? The menu overall was kind of blah, like you're reading the whole thing and nothing sounds great. We ended up doing a mish-mash of random apps instead of entrees, none of which were memorable. On the plus side, the vibe is chill, the Giants game was on all tvs, the staff was nice & unpretentious, and since we were eating late, we witnessed the space's conversion to nightclub mode and hear the DJ playing some disco-funk mashups. Sweetness.

It's kind of hazy... there were cover bands... there were peanuts to shell... there was dancing with a random... and there was a big headache the next day. As far as dive bars go, I think that is pretty much a good recipe.
