I went here last night for the "Family Affair" event because a friend knew one of the guys who was DJing. We got in line at about 10:30pm and finally reached the door about 45 minutes later. Even though our names were on the guest list, we had to pay a $10 cover ($20 if you weren't on the guest list). The bouncer was pretty cool and chatted with us for a bit while we waited for the people in front of us to find their names on the list. When we finally got in, the venue was still filling up so it wasn't too crowded. Everyone was at the bar and even with four bartenders, it took awhile for everyone in our group to get their drinks. After unsuccessfully trying to order a Sex on the Beach and a Fuzzy Navel, the bartender finally admitted they were out of peach Schnapps (seriously?! the night had just begun!). Finally, with our drinks in hand, we took a tour around to check out the art. For an art gallery, there wasn't much to look at, but they had some pretty cool displays. There was plenty of seating with a few couches here and there, a few tables with chairs, and some random seats along the walls. We sat down for a bit and waited for the place to fill up some more. The music was pretty good -- a lot of old school rap and hip hop. The place got pretty crowded later in the night. In fact, it was super crowded. People were usually pretty courteous though, gently making their way through the crowds. I prefer to dance in fairly crowded places, so I was fine with it. A few drinks got spilled, but that's to be expected. The fb event said there was no dress code, so my friends and I went pretty casual (girls in jeans and heels, guys in their usual). When we got there, people were dressed in a wide range of styles. I saw everything from girls in vegas-esque dresses and a guy with a tie to people wearing hoodies. Really, I don't think anyone cared, we were there just to have fun. Overall, I had a good time with my friends and meeting some new people. The venue was pretty neat and the crowd it attracted was okay (not totally my type, but it was fun). I'm not sure if I would return... Maybe if a friend requested to go there, but it wouldn't be my first choice, mostly because of the bar and how long it took to get a drink (it was slow service throughout the night).

This place is about 50ft away from my building.. I was overjoyed when the former Dominican troublesome nightclub closed down and this nice clean restaurant opened... They did a great job on decorating.. I went to the grand opening... I ordered the rotisserie chicken with white rice/bean and a salad side of fries and my b/f got the chicharron mofongo with seafood salad... the food took almost an hour to get to our table and unfortunately it was ice cold..My b/f had to tell the waitress in Spanish and she just grabbed it and brought it back while the owner came over and apologized... she brought it back a few minutes later... The rotisserie chicken was really good...the white rice alone was tasty I didn't care for the beans at all.. my salad consisted of a thick slice of lettuce and a thick slice of an unripe tomato (don't get the salad) with no dressing... the fries were ok but I could taste everything else that they fried that night... The mofongo was really good minus the ox tail gravy they gave with it....the seafood salad was completely overcooked and greasy.. we had a few coronas which were cheap they have a fully stocked bar and make every drink imaginable...and then a band came on.. don't get me wrong I'm not really into Spanish music as i don't speak the language but the beats were great until some 4' 11" guy got on the mic and started screaming... it was my time to go....
