I wish that I could give it a 3.5 to be honest but I am rounding up, feeling generous today. Its a trendy little lounge to hang with your friends but not the kind of place for any real conversations. Have not tried their happy hour but have heard good things.

Bootie is my favorite recurring event in SF. Beyond my love of mashups, I am pretty convinced that Bootie works well for me because DNA Lounge is a ridiculously great venue space. As in, it's a big place, so that when things get crowded people can wander around. During this time you may notice that drinks are relatively expensive. That plus the cover which is $12 after 10 pm usually means Bootie is not a "cheap" night out. OK so for some reason the venue layout reminds me a bit of Ruby Skye because on the second level you can hang out and watch all the craziness below... but even better - you won't be surrounded by d-bags while doing so. Most of the people who come to Bootie are wonderful, open, smiling... I think to enjoy mashups you probably need to have a little bit of that kind of mindset...

This is my favorite place to go dancing in the Bay Area! Friday nights are the best - zouk, soukous and reggae are playing all night long, people (not all) can really dance, and the vibe is so good. If you're missing a hole-in-the-wall type , sweaty dance spot in your life, this is defintely the place for you.
