I don't know what was better - the amazing food or the impeccable, friendly service. Much to our surprise, the whole restaurant was friendly and relaxed in attitude, not at all snooty or pretentious or stuffy as we were expecting. It is a fun version of Michael Mina and the whole staff was very friendly. Our server Tai was one of the best and we wanted her to sit down and join our dinner. That easy attitude translated into the menu, where you could do whatever you wanted with the 8 or 11 course tasting menus available (highly recommended). We did 8 and could have gotten 8 desserts if we wanted. Whatever you do, make sure you get the Tai Snapper - AMAZING. AMAZING!

I hate writing bad reviews, but then again, I hate horrible service more. Wish 26 appears to be earning a rep as a night spot, which may or may not be true, but they are also open for lunch, which they are woefully unprepared for. We were looking for a bar to get some lunch and watch a March Madness basketball game, and they had big TV screens over the bar, so in we went. The room is vaguely decorated in an Irish pub theme. The few tables clearly exist only to be pushed aside when the night crowd comes -- they look like miniatures in the vast empty room. Dancing later? We were asked three separate times what channel the game was on, and another fifteen minutes passed for these three people to actually change the TV channel. In fairness, they created several table and chair formations for us to watch the screens. It took about 10 minutes to get water to the table -- without ice -- and another 10 to place the order. It then took over 40 minutes for the food to come (sporadically, two dishes at a time, ice teas without ice, one botched pizza order), so there was plenty of time to study the somewhat greasy mix of businessmen (construction and contractor work, possibly?), ladies who might be looking for a gentlemanly escort for an hour or so, and stray families who accidentally wandered in. The scene had a somewhat mafia-esque feel in how the men greeted one another and made rounds from table to table. It was kind of fun to guess how the oddly matched people found each other and decided to eat here. Lunch required two changes of servers during the meal. The simple pub menu -- chicken sandwiches, wings, fish-n-chips, and so on -- was fairly tasty. The first check was inaccurate by over $30 and included a 20% "service charge" for our party of six. When we asked the waiter to redo it, he disappeared for another ten minutes, and then said there was trouble with the machine. As we were manually writing it up ourselves, another waiter came back with the correct check sans service charge, but not totaled. We paid cash because we were afraid to leave a credit card number. A very shady business vibe here.
